THIS TOUR HAS SOLD OUT! Thank you for your interest.
The '20's boom was an amazing period for the 'Burg. It ushered in a wave of new downtown hotels, including the gem of the waterfront, the Vinoy Park Hotel. Constructed in 1925 at a cost of $3.5 million, it was then the largest construction project in Florida's history.
Speed forward 50 years, a couple boom and bust cycles later, the Vinoy has closed and it was looking like a date with the wrecking ball was coming. But due to the perseverance of Fred Guest and others, and the community's love for the building, the Vinoy survived. In 1992, it was reborn & reopened after a 93 million dollar renovation, then the largest private investment in a city redevelopment project!
Join SPP for a special insiders look at the Vinoy and the stories behind its construction and restoration. Included will be a special one hour docent led tour and stories by Tom Stovall, the local artist who was tasked with restoring the hotel's intricate art work & decorations. Tom is a fascinating person to explain the story! Top it off with a complimentary drink at Marchand's Bar & Grill or on the veranda and you have an evening you won't want to miss. Space for this special event is limited so we suggest you grab your spot now by making your reservation!
